
Big North Winds, Lots Of Geese
Saturday December 16th I ran my first Goose Hunt of the season! We’ve been watching these geese on water for a week waiting for Saturday’s big winds. Myself and second guide Rich, plus our eight clients put 214 geese on the ground. We took 186 Snow Geese, one Banded and 2 juvenile blue geese. As well as 28 Specklebellies. Just add weather! Lots of birds around
Just add weather! That was today’s secret. We been seeing a lot of birds holding on the refuge close zones. Most these birds been moving on the full moon to go feed in the rice fields. This morning flight was absolutely incredible, we killed our 21 ducks and a Specklebelly by 9:30am. This last week the phone has been ringing off the hook. Just a few more weekend dates, and some week dates left. Time to get on the books before they are gone.

Temperature are dipping down and Action is expected to pick up!
The season had started out on a normal November pattern, slow until the weather shows up. Forecast are calling for lower temperatures which should kick the migrating birds into gear!
Today I had the pleasure of guiding Darrin and his son Joey on the Sutter ranch. Darrin purchased this hunt at the Half Moon Bay Ducks Unlimited Dinner. These guys ended the day with their limits of ducks. We been having decent success due to a good population of local birds with a mix of ear
